Christy Engle has been teaching for over twenty years in a variety of educational environments. After receiving a B.A. in Broadcasting and Film from Boston University, she moved to Los Angeles and worked in the television industry. She subsequently decided to pursue a career that centered around her love of children and her love of learning. At Pepperdine University, Christy earned a master’s degree in education with a multiple subject teaching credential from the state of California.

Christy has taught second, third, and fifth grades in public school. She takes special joy in working with students who are learning English as a second language and has also taught ESL for adults. After several years in the regular classroom, Christy became a reading intervention teacher, focusing on improving the skills of struggling students. Out of all her educational experiences, however, Christy is most proud of the nine years she spent homeschooling her own daughter.

As an enthusiastic supporter of homeschooling, Christy is thrilled to have joined the Urban Homeschoolers team. She looks forward to working in partnership with your family to help meet the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of your children.

In her free time, Christy enjoys paper crafting, baking, and gardening. She lives with her family and several mischievous cats in the San Fernando Valley.
