Julie has been a teacher for the past 17 years both in and out of a traditional classroom. Most recently she created an in depth History Through Art curriculum for Topanga Art Imaginarium covering the evolution of art through ancient, medieval and renaissance time periods, as well as a specialized California art history period. She went on to teach several youth art classes there using the newly formed curriculum for ages 7 – 13. Prior to her focus on art in the classroom, Julie also spent two years as an assistant teacher for The Village School in Pacific Palisades. There she aided in all aspects of the classroom including lesson prep, small group teaching, one on one tutoring and substitute teaching. Besides teaching at Urban Homeschoolers, Julie also homeschools her own three children ages 10 – 15. Due to multiple ages, different learning styles, constant growth and change in their interests, she is very patient and creative in implementing multimedia art forms to enhance almost any learning experience weather for just her children or multiple children in a group environment.
