Join Urban Homeschoolers for a night of theater at the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival. The theme for the evening is “Vulcania! Roman Empire Night.” Synopsis from Independent Shakespeare Company (ISC): “This “Game of Thrones” for the Renaissance stage was a young Shakespeare’s first big hit. Titus, a Roman general, returns from the war in triumph with Tamora, Queen of the Goths, as prisoner. What follows is a visceral story of temptation, political machinations, and the thirst for vengeance. It’s full of bloody spectacle, dark humor, and definitely not for the youngest audience members. We welcome children at our performances! However, these are not Shakespeare performances edited or changed for children. Shakespeare wrote about the human experience, and his plays include examples of sexuality and violence, and deal with adult themes. Email us and we’ll be happy to answer any specific questions you may have about particular performances. And please, keep your children with you at all times.”
We gather at 5:30 pm. Bring blankets/chairs, sunscreen, insect repellent and dinner. Curtain is 7:00 pm.
